If you haven’t ready my first post about bentonite clay you can catch up here.
How to make up a batch….
Making up a batch can be a bit daunting at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not that bad honestly. You can add in extra essential oils if you like to give it a nice smell & all sorts!
What you’ll need
- 1 Cup Bentonite Clay
- 1 Cup Water
- About a 1/4 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
- Essential Oils (optional)
The Process
Place all the products into a plastic or wooden bowl & mix together until you have a smooth paste consistency. You’re done! Told you it was simple!!

How it’s been for my hair…
So far I can’t fault it on my hair, after I use it my curls definitely have new life, they’re defined & my hair is really soft. It’s definitely getting rid of product build up because after I use this my hair is squeaky clean, just remember that because it strips everything off your hair it’s taking the natural oils with it as well so you will most definitely need to use some kind of deep conditioner & a leave in conditioner – depending on what you have available –
When I run out of deep conditioner, I’ll either make my own – depending on how lazy I’m feeling – or I’ll just use my leave in conditioner & make sure my hair is really saturated with it before I follow up with anything else. Even if I use a deep conditioner after I wash it out I still go in with a little leave in conditioner to keep my hair really moisturised.
After I’ve applied my leave in I follow up with my shea butter which I mix penetrative oils into, usually olive oil or coconut oil. After that I finish with a sealant oil. I usually use castor oil to seal my hair & lock all that moisture into my hair! Pop it into a protective style & Bobs your uncle, you’re done 🙂
So there we have it, a short & sweet one today but you’ve gotten how to mix up a batch & a possible routine to follow after. Try out different things with your hair to see what works for you. When I first stopped straightening my hair I just thought what works for those girls with amazing hair on YouTube will work for me….unfortunately that’s not always the case but persevere & you’ll find what works for you.
See you on the next one!
